The original The Bridge River Kwai, was destroyed during the second world. This image is of the replacement bridge, but it still uses the bases that were built by the prison of war slave labour during the second world war.
The Bridge River Kwai, Kanchanaburi is always full of tourist but the location retains as dignified memorial to the many fallen soldiers who died in its construction. The Bridge River Kwai was part of the 415km Burma Railway, also referred to as the Death Railway which connected Bangkok (Thailand), Rangoon (Burma ), built by Japan during the second world war, to support its forces in the Burma campaign.
