Hell Fire Pass, Kanchanaburi is the darkest point of the construction of the Thailand Burma railway during the Second World War (horrifically known as the Death Railway), thousands of captured soldiers died trying to excavate this relatively short pass.

Hell Fire Pass is emotionally remember by Australia as many of their capture soldiers were forced to work here. Conditions at Hell Fire Pass, Kanchanaburi were awful for the troops conducting back breaking work in extreme humidity with the constant brutality of the Japanese troops. Hell Fire Pass, Kanchanaburi is an enduring memorial to the extreme brutality and waste of human life.
