The Sunsets of Koh Phangan
Koh Phangan sunsets are some of the best to be viewed in Thailand. Koh Phangan has two main reason why the sunsets are so much finer here than in other locations in Thailand: The first being that the sun sets over the calm Gulf of Thailand which is inter-spaced with the small islands of the Ang Thong Nation Park which appear as black silhouettes amid the coloured sea. The second are the fantastic locations to view the sunset, either from the paradise beaches which stretch along the coast or, more popular, from the bars which cling to the sides of the steep hills.
These bars provide amazing views during the day but at sunset and late evening are simply spectacular. As the sun sets over the horizon the still sea acts as a mirror reflecting the cloud patterns of the multicolored sky. The best views of the Koh Phangan sun set are from the west coast of the island.
Rightly, the most popular bar to watch the sun set is from the Amsterdam Bar, it is located half way up a hill close to Wok Tum Bay, 2 km north from Thong Sala. From here views of the sun set over the Ang Thong Nation Park and Koh Samui can be watched while drinking a refreshing cool beer, this is what a trip to Thailand is about.
